La Selva is Bellm’s third book with publisher Mirage. It compiles images captured over two years across Hawaii, Mexico, Thailand, Jamaica, Costa Rica, New Zealand, India, and Cuba. La Selva dives into the dark, wet heart of the jungle. Here, Bellm’s women are untamed and elemental, their hair twisted with salt and sand, moving through Pandanus palms, bamboo shelters, and the veil-like mosquito nets. Interwoven with still lifes of shells and ripening fruit and landscapes dripping with heat and humidity, La Selva unfolds in grainy black-and-whites and tangerine-washed light, evoking lawless days from decades past.
